Vessel
Project Statement
Vessel is a wordless illustrated mini-comic, and a reflection on the process of creation as a cycle of death and rebirth. The anatomy of a vessel, with its foot, belly, shoulder, neck, and lip, can evoke a human essence, adding another layer to the idea of “creation” and cyclical transformation. It begins as a step-by-step instruction manual on how to throw a jar on the pottery wheel, before a long, loose hair creeps into the sequence and sabotages the process. The work references blueprints, comic strips, and a classic cartoon gag that breaks the fourth wall.
